The zip & stake balloon install is my FAVORITE installation technique for outdoor installs.
It was created from a ton of trial and error, a bit of ingenuity, and probably way too many tears over popped balloons. For about $10 you use a Mattress bag, simple stakes, and this simple process to save yourself the stress that I personally put myself through in my beginner balloon designer days.
Step 1: Assemble the garlands and place in fully zipped mattress bags.
Step 2: Stake the mattress bags into the ground so they don’t blow away.
Step 3: install brick clips, command hooks, whatever is needed to appropriately hang the balloon install once the mattress bag is secured and not going to blow away.
Step 4: Pull the TOP end out of the bag to tie into your point of contact. Leave the other end of the balloon install in the mattress bag
Step 5: pull the rest of the balloon garland out and secure to the lower point of contact
Hooray! You’re done! With minimal popped balloons from contact with the ground, hot asphalt, whatever elements you may be surrounded by in the blistering heat of summer.
